I got my first Lamy Safari for free. I used to work security at a department store in the eighties, while I was in college. One of our jobs was to throw out old stock that was’t selling or had been discontinued. Lamy pens were on the list. It was strictly verboten to pocket any of the stuff that was designated for destruction. But I’d never had a fountain pen before, and it seemed such a waste to throw it away. On the butt of the pen were the letters “W. Germany.” That’s how long ago that was. The department store eventually went out of business and I think the building was torn down last year. I still got that pen. Writes great.

That’s awesome! What a shame about destroying overstock.
This looks like a great book! I'll have to show it to my wife, she is great with sketching!
Have fun! Cheers!
