Nice insights and reflections. I am curious about peoples real lives/jobs on here and the relationship to the creative stuff that they publish- it is all related, but I (and I'm sure most people) also feel the need to keep those things at arms length online. It's an interesting balance. Best to you and yours in the new year, Justus!
Thanks! This was barely one step above a journal entry (aside from the calligraphy)—I was as I was doing my final edit, I thought "hmm noone cares about this navel gazing"..,but I've always used this blog as a digital archive of my life, so I went ahead and published. So thanks for the encouragement! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed these stray thoughts!
YOU WERE PRODUCTIVE DURING A BOUT WITH COVID??????! Holy merde, Justus, my hat's off to you. Bravo! Whenever COVID or whateverbug slams me in bed, I look at the ceiling, waiting for death.
Happy New Year. After 2024, this coming year will probably seem dull regardless of legislative stuff and malarky.
Ha! I could have written that line better. COVID absolutely destroyed me as well, completely bedridden for a couple of days and the nastiest sore throat of my life for a few days beyond that. But I was mainly impressed with the fact that I went right back to calligraphy after taking 10 days off, because I have a bad habit of picking up a hobby only to drop it after something gets in the way.
As for 2025, I'll be keeping an eye out on Carson City out of habit, but I'm quite happy that it's unlikely any of the shennanigans there will have as direct an influence on my life as the previous leg session!
Let's just hope the Legislature doesn't get all wound up in party politics as usual. As for COVID, it does kick the starch out of you. Glad to hear you got right back into calligraphy. Your work is excellent and fascinating. I've learned a lot about it just seeing your pages.
As for state politics, the Dem's didn't get a supermajority this year so they have to work with the Governor to get stuff passed. Let's hope both sides act like adults, unlike our besties in DC....either way I guess we'll find out in by the end of June...

Yes, it would be nice if our leaders started behaving like adults.
“letting go”
That always sounds great this time of year.
i’m really glad you’re liking your new job! Having work that’s finished when the day is done—what a very nice thing when you can get it!
Yes, let's hope it stays that we. We got approved on a big slate of projects, so it's gonna be a busy new year!
