Good stuff, Justus. I always look forward to new music-- thank you.
"Art is when a human being does something “off the map” that changes *someone else* for the better. " --Seth Godin
His writing about practicing an art (vs. just doing a job) has informed how I feel about my work in dentistry. I'm always trying to find ways to meet my patients where they are and walk alongside them towards greater wellness and happiness. I feel like a lot of my day is craft, which has a predictable set of steps and outcomes-- safety, competence, etc. This "craft" part is the minimum of what patients expect. The "art" is optional, but seems like it makes all the difference to my feeling satisfied at the end of a day.
Ohh interesting! I be often thought of the art versus craft divide because that is a big part of the architecture industry (fancy architects vs people like me who do more mundane projects).
But I love the idea of what is art versus craft in how we conduct ourselves in everyday business. I need to think about it more. But at first glance I suspect that craft is the precondition before people will let you try your art.
Hi Justus. 👋 This was a great read for me--I, too, really appreciate the work, books, and wisdom of Seth Godin. And all of this wonderful music, about 80% of which is totally new to me has just been wonderfully fun to explore today--thank you for sharing all these goodies/finds etc. 🙏🎶 And, that short Klangphonics video has such a beautiful golden hour background.✅🌞✨
