This session was a mind-blower. You're indeed exceeding your previous personal best. The layouts for each piece defied all my expectations of calligraphic art. It's so much more that just writing a sign. And your kids' backgrounds make it all the more intriquing.
So much experimentation going on! I love watching how you're exploring ideas. Loved the ones from 10/15 in particular for some reason—I think it was the compositions you used? They feel balanced but also not too rigid.
Thanks so much for sharing. They always give me a lot to think about in terms of what's possible.
Thanks man! I feel like there are two types of experimentation, breaking mental ruts, trying to find the big gestures. And the other—making it slightly better. What if I just tinkered with it like this? Sometimes it's the right detail that snaps the whole in focus.
Seriously in awe of your devotion, Justus. In my experience (which is in dentistry instead of calligraphy!) I’ve noticed that truly mastering a fine motor skill can be difficult, and then all the sudden—“Click” I bet you felt this too & I feel like you are about to jump up to the next level. Keep going my friend!
Thanks! I’ve definitely felt this many times with this calligraphy practice. I’ve never had such luck with musical instruments, so maybe that’s why it took till my mid forties to have faith in the process, but yes I do feel it and that click is awesome!

Thanks! I've been super happy with what's come out of that last week—and yes, stealing the kids' visual spice has been fun!
